The inspiration behind one of your songs? The story behind my debut single ‘Broken’ is actually a really interesting story. I had just gone through a breakup and I wanted to write a song by myself about how I was feeling. But, my cowriter kept bugging me to show him what I had come up with. Finally, I gave in and we ended up writing the song via FaceTime at around 2 AM. It was one of the most interesting writing sessions I’ve ever had.
How would you describe your style (music & fashion)? I would say my music is an eclectic mix of pop & EDM with a slight sprinkle of singer/songwriter. I started out doing acoustic music which I actually think helped my songwriting more than anything else. It’s all about the lyrics which is still very important to me in my songwriting. As far as my style/fashion is concerned… half of my wardrobe is made entirely of glitter & the other half is comprised of all black. It just depends on the day & if I’m feeling fancy, I wear both!
Who’s your current musical inspiration and why? This is such a hard question because I have so many!! I really try to listen to as much music as possible for songwriting inspiration & musical influence. At the moment, though, Bebe Rexha is my QUEEN! I absolutely love her. She was a songwriter for other artists long before breaking out as a solo artist & that’s something I definitely respect & also want to do during my career.
Your thoughts on the DFW music scene? Even though we live in Texas, the DFW music scene is really diverse. We have everything from country to heavy metal to pop! One thing I would love to see more of, though, is a female influence, which is why I’m totally stoked about Beats By Her. I think it’s absolutely amazing. I can’t tell you how many shows I’ve played where I’ve been the only female artist. I think empowering women & girls is one of the most important thing our music scene could do in the future & that’s why I’m so excited to be here.
Where can we find/buy your music? You can find my music pretty much everywhere! I have music on my website, YouTube, & everywhere else that music is digitally sold & streamed (iTunes, Spotify, etc!)
