Urban Grit is a 24-hour access training facility equipped with a wide variety of free weight, strength and functional equipment. From the weighted sled to the metal plates, Urban Grit is truly a warehouse gym. Located in North Dallas, Urban Grit is owned and operated by The Agadas, a couple who took their love of lifting and created an avenue for others to pursue their love of health and well-being too.

With the help of an amazing roster of personal trainers, Urban Grit has steadily built a loyal following thanks to their custom boot camps which combine cardio and weights. The camps take place both indoors and outdoors and are held every Saturday from 10am -11am.

Only the strong survive.

What is it like being an entrepreneur in Dallas?

You have to be disciplined and focused in order to make it as an entrepreneur in Dallas. That means working late nights, saying no to exotic vacations and only eating out occasionally for the time being. My wife and I both agree that customer service is the number one factor in maintaining a satisfactory experience in any business. You don’t have to have all of the answers, but we’ve learned that being thoughtful, kind and respectful to your members goes a long way.

What are your top 4 tips for busy professionals to stay fit and healthy as we head into the fall season?

1) Meal prep “fail to prepare and be prepared to fail.” 2)Be active everyday even if that means just parking further or taking the stairs. 3) Stay hydrated- challenge yourself to drink 8 ounces of water every hour at work. By the end of your work day, you will have completed drinking 64 ounces! 4) Portion control- have your cookies, but separate your portions so that you don’t over indulge. I like to reward myself at the end of the day.

Your top go-to places for fun?

We enjoy bike riding on the White Rock Lake Trail and also exploring the different shops in the Bishop Arts District for family time. Our all time favorite trip was when we visited Africa. Everyone should go at least once.
